MY GRANDPA’S LOVE

MY GRANDPA’S LOVE

I’ll always remember Grandpa,

A kind and gentle man,

He loved me, just like Grandma,

He was my biggest fan,

We played with toys,

Sang songs, read books,

He gave such joy,

Many laughs and looks!

He helped name my dolls,

He took me places,

We had a ball,

Many happy faces!

And though he’s gone,

I’ll always see,

My grandpa’s love,

Lives on in me!   😊

THE BACK ROADS OF MY MEMORY

THE BACK ROADS OF MY MEMORY

I wandered down the back roads

Of my memory,

And I wondered if you wondered,

Whatever became of me,

But why should I care?

You cheated on me,

You’re a lowdown dirty dog,

I’m much better off, you see,

You should never travel back,

To unhappy memories,

I turned and took a detour

Now, I’m as happy as can be.

SAD, SAD MEMORIES

SAD, SAD MEMORIES
At the end of a dry husked corn field
Just outside our little town,

Underneath a gray quartz rock,
Sad, sad memories can be found.

For that is where I buried
Keepsakes of my one true love.

Special memories that I’d carried
But no longer dare think of.

Sad, sad memories, how they linger
In the corners of my mind,

Sad, sad memories, with a stinger
Of the lyin,’ cheatin’ kind,

Sad, sad memories, how they linger
With bile, my heart, they fill,

Sad, sad memories of a lyin’ lover,
A lover who’s cheatin’ still.
