[Disclaimer: Yes, the author realizes that most human beings do not have gizzards,
but how else was I going to insert the rhyming words “angry lizard” in the poem?!!]
I AM DYING TO KNOW YOU!
I am dying to know you!
I literally mean it!
My love-sick body shuts down,
No doctor’s ever seen it!
When I first see you,
My body shimmy-shakes,
And when you get near,
My head swims and aches!
Then, my kidneys shut down,
And wow, then my liver,
Turns a somersault
And really starts to quiver!
Next, my heart starts pounding,
And springs holes, like a sieve,
When I reach this point,
I have just minutes to live!
And then there’s my poor gizzard,
And my bladder, if you please,
The former: an angry lizard,
And like the latter, seeks release!
Should I stop loving you?
Please don’t even ask it,
If I can’t be with you,
I’d just drop and blow a gasket! 🙂
