DOWN TOPEKA BOULEVARD
I was strolling aimlessly
Down Topeka Boulevard,
In my life, I came to see,
I seek a life not very hard,
I had no soul or ambition,
Except a bowl of wacky weed,
I had not a whit of real contrition,
And my life had gone to seed,
All at once, I spied a light,
Blinking in a stranger’s yard,
It was a faint, quaint sight
Down Topeka Boulevard,
It was a firefly — a lightning bug!
And he flew up next to me,
He said, “Hey, you lazy lug!”
Please listen and you’ll see,
“You’d better set some goals,
And learn how to work,”
“Or else, you’ll lose your soul,
And become a lonely, lazy jerk!”
That day, I saw the light!
And I learned how to work hard,
That bug set me right,
Down Topeka Boulevard!
Love the satire and the poem! 💖💖🌷🌷
