DAUGHTERS AND THEIR DADS II

daughter and dad

Do you ever revise or re-write a poem?  I do!  I am sure you do, too.  Here is a re-write of my poem I posted last Friday.  Actually, last Friday’s version was the “final version!” The original version today is a bit sadder.

DAUGHTERS AND THEIR DADS

Since the day she was born
With just a single curl,
A name she’s proudly worn
Is Daddy’s Little Girl!

Momma died when she was born,
Her babe, a tiny pearl,
Daddy’s heart was sad and torn,
But he loved his little girl!

Not as big as a minute,
She tagged along, fishin’,
What he did, she was in it,
Where he went: her mission!

Yes, she’s Daddy’s girl – whether
They’re together or apart!
She’s Daddy’s little pearl,
Cuz Daddy has her heart!

But one day, the doctor said,
Dad’s x-rays look real bad,
In six weeks, he’ll be dead,
Daddy’s girl was so sad.

Daddy, oh Daddy,
Please don’t go!
Daddy, oh Daddy,
She loves you so!

Daddy, oh Daddy,
Though you leave this world,
She’ll always be
Your little girl.

Daddies and their daughters
Have a special bond, you see,
A love no one taught her,
A love born naturally.
